Could anyone post a size or part number for the Oetiker clamps? I used those daily at work in the early 90s and they were never a failure point.

They are #050-9, here:
https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/appages/oetiker.php?clickkey=3015657

I put them on mine in 2006. They haven't needed a touch nor a tightening since. Be a little careful though: a few years later I put them on a friend's bike and overtightened in my zeal to "fix" his still-original hoses: going too tight cracked one of the hoses. These type of clamps are airworthy and WILL work, with tremendous 'grip'.

Myself I use a socket on a 6" extension and just tighten as tight as gripping just the extension will achieve. For some reason I recall having to buy 6 in order to get 4 of them.

@Hondaman and @Willbird, thank you. I didn't know they made those. At work I'd used the style that required their own crimping tool, which may or may not be better for this application...

By the way what clamps are good these days for a Vetter fairing mount?

Are those the Chinese version, use just once?

We use the crimp type hose clamps at work, probably WAY too much grip there. Great for jobs where they will work because there is no sharp obtrusive worm gear assembly.

I found these, they're genuine Oetiker, Made in USA and inexpensive but will it be difficult to crimp them perfectly each time? Perhaps a crimper with a mechanical stop thumb screw?

Or will it be a fool's errand trying to get that crimping tool in there at all?

Their cheapest crimping tool is $38

Those are what my company supplied back then, only one of the Engineers had the Oetiker tool with the blue handles.

@Bryanj do you think that tool would reach the two center carbs at a good enough angle?

Ok for intake isolators the "good" clamp is a worm gear type, I thought Oetiker was the brand, maybe not. They have a smooth side that grips the intake isolator, not the open screw thread slots like a normal hose clamp. I just used good old hose clamps on the windjammer bracket.

That question is a you would have to try it!  You would not be able to have then lined up to look tidy though, just wanted to show cheaper ones are about. They are what i used on the proper O clips for propane and butain hose when i was licenced for that job, you should be able to get them in US but i would happily buy and post on at cost, no idea what that would be though

Oh, I see!
Wow - you'd have to install the hoses with the engine out? Or...?
I use something very similar for my lawn sprinklers. :D
