CB400 Master Cylinder Coating

What is this purple-ish coating on my master cylinder and mount? What have you all used to re-coat it as mine is quite scratched up for some unknown reason. Thanks.

It's anodized.  It was originally black.  Ultra violet radiation(the sun) has` made it fade

You can sand and clean very thoroughly and use one thin coat of Satin Black Epoxy Primer.
It will look too black. Not many people will notice the difference. Epoxy primer is what I use on engine compartments and is resistant to brake fluid,oils, gasoline.

Epoxy primer is also not UV resistant and will turn gray out in the sunlight.
