THE prototype CB750
« on: August 27, 2025, 02:40:15 PM »
I’m sure I’m late to the party but I just stumbled on this. I didn’t know Vic World had the prototype, I thought he at one point had the candy blue green pre-production bike.
Great little article. Beautiful bike, I love the side cover emblems. Industrial art at it’s best.

There is more information on prototypes in the 1968 sticky above. I like the Brighton bike with the gold/white stripe paint.
I once mentioned that I'd like to make and own a clone prototype but people that own a real one misconstrued my post and assumed that I doubted the authenticity of it. I also like the one with the toaster tank like what was on a K1 450.
Wouldn't it be cool if someone 3D printed those sidecover emblems?

I realize I had seen the earlier thread and I had confused prototype with pre-production.
The pre bikes had some differences from the production bikes but the prototype had many, including the weird carbs with shared float bowls, strange. The bike Vic World sold was a pre, I will guess he still has the prototype, a unicorn bike that I think is almost priceless. Hard to know why Honda sent it here except to plant a fever in the market!!
Yes, 3d print the emblems and even the side covers.I would get a set of side covers just so I could have both.
I wonder how the engine performed with the crank and carb differences.

I wonder how this bike ended up in pieces in someone's yard. Weird
