Japan's tariff negotiator says the US's reciprocal tariffs will be lowered by next week
Japan's tariff negotiator said the US would revise tariffs on Japanese goods by September 16.
In an X post, he said there would be a reduction in Japanese automobile tariffs.
The tariff rate for goods from Japan stands at 15%, pre-revision.

 David Silver posted a couple of his tariff charges on Facebook. For unknown source castings it can be 50% to as high as 200% England to US. He mentioned that it's difficult to determine the source of NOS parts. One shipment had a $34K tax, another is mistakenly over a half million. He said, try to get those fixed it's nearly impossible.
 We may have missed the boat if anyone was waiting to get restoration parts from out of country. My advice is if it's in the country you are currently in, buy it now.

Japan is paying the tariff to the USA according to the president. So surely you will be refunded?

Definitely misunderstanding. The tariff is paid by the importing party. In this case, it is direct to the consumer. While businesses collect and pay when importing goods, the cost is also ultimately passed on to the consumer.
Similar is true for countries that collect a VAT (Value-Added Tax). Japan does also use the VAT system, the US does not.

  I'm just sure a check will be arriving from Japan shortly. But don't hold your breath.

   I've pretty much put everything (with regard to motorcycles) on hold for the foreseeable future, just going to have to wait and see how it all flushes out. Really sucks...

I've read that Japan post is temporarily halting most shipments to the US.due to the suspension of the De Minimus rule.

15% of 145.60 is $21.84
Sep 10 DHL called, they want $37.67
So DHL wants $21.84 tariff + $15.83 for the "privilege" of paying the $21.83 tariff.
I want to order rims from Yamiya, waiting for tariff changes this week.
I want to continue buying from Yamiya, I hope the tariff is low so I can continue.

Yeah, see that's the problem. DHL (and every other carrier) has to now collect tariffs on everything valued at less than $800.
That's most certainly thousands and thousands of extra packages.
To do that means adding people and capacity to their infrastructure and they're most certainly going to pass that expense on to customers.
