OK. .  .so I'm bored, had a few glasses of wine, and decided to put my auto/motorcycle literature knowledge (from what I do for a living + a bit of wikipedia) to work making this poll.   :P

(AND I didn't want to spend the next hour counting hangers in my closet for that other poll. .  .('ten gallon hats')   ;D  )

let me know if I made any glaring omissions and I will try and add them . . .

So I would say that if I could have ANYTHING I would probably get a pre-war Indian Four or Chief (but that would be WAY more money than I would see anytime soon. .  . lol).

I also think the Vincents are hOt (plus, there's the Hunter Thompson connection). . he he. But if I had to pick a realistic brand that I like that I could actually get parts for and ride, I'm thinking a BMW? Probably because they look pretty cool and they're kinda familiar to me having been in the air-cooled VW scene for many moon prior to motorcycles. .  .dunno really know that much about them, though. . .  except that parts are WAY more spendy than Honda!

It would have to be a Laverda Jota (Other- European), the absolute brute icon of the late 70's.

If £25k was to hand, an MV Agusta from the era.

You all will think I am nuts but I am going to buy one of those Urals.  The thought of driving in snow with chains on 2 drive wheels and a side car is just to cool.
These wonderful little birds are great flyers, delicious eating, excellent for training your hunting dog, and just fun to shoot,or stuff and keep around the house.  Bobwhites can be put with other types of Quail and have very large penis's.  Quail are very popular with the babes.

I picked Norton, Triumph and Yamaha (XS650). I was actually looking for either a CB550 or an XS650 when I found my CB.

19APR2007 - I nixed NSU and replaced it with MV Agusta as I didn't know NSU had been gone for so long. In the older motorcycle magazines I have been browsing, they seemed to have been pretty popular at one time. If I recall, I think I left the poll so you can change your vote(s).

I just picked up The Encyclopedia of the Motorcycle by Hugo Wilson. A very cool read with all sorts of motorcycle 'glam shots' and information on the different makers of cycles, all over the world. The CB750 was well praised as quite the revolutionary bike and is also on the front and back covers - I might have to scan that for you all.    ;)

Any other brands I should have included in the poll? How about Vespa? (here in Portland Oregon, they are all over the place).

I would definitely have to go Ducati, maybe not a round case 750 SS, but the sport, just for riding fun. I also love the Moto Guzzi V-7 sport, and I'm just waiting on a cherry BMW R65.

A 1927 Henderson 4 cyl.

Knew a old guy(76 at the time... 4-5 years ago) that took 2 inline4 motors, and made a 8 cyl.
Looked awesome, had drip carbs, and a wooden sidecar.

Even his stock hendersons were awesome.

I'd settle for a Moto Morini 3 1/2 or a Guzzi Le Mans.

When I bought my 500 in 2001, the guy had a Morini 3 1/2 in the garage - he had to sell one to fund his wedding and the Honda went!

  • Tryin' To Slow Down "Time"!

I'd have a hard time narrowing it down to just three. I'd probably have to make a list and go from there, until I got it down to just three. ::)

mid40's & up (to 53') Indian Chief,  42' Indian Four,  57' Indian (enfield) 700cc Apache,  Norton Commando Fast Back,  mid 60's Royal Enfield Interceptor,  late 60's Jawa Californian,  BSA 500cc Gold Star,  BSA 650cc Super Rocket,  Matchless 600cc Typhoon  & an Ariel Square Four.

I think I could narrow them down to: 42' Indian Four, Royal Enfield Interceptor and the Jawa 350 Californian. I'd better quit before I change my mind. ;D ::)

                                                     Later on, Bill :) ;)

Due to the shocking absence of Brough, Vincent and Triton ::) I opted for an Indian and a Ducati 8)

I've just noticed, all the above are twins, remind me again, why am I riding an SOHC4? ;D

I'd like the 1968 Triumph Bonneville back that I traded in on a 1969 CB750. I still would have bought the Honda, just wished I had enough money and brains to keep the Triumph. Besides I killed the Honda 5 weeks later in t-bone crash with a Cortina. So no Triumph or Honda then.
Cheers,
Cliff.
