Anybody bought Hagon shocks lately?
« on: September 29, 2025, 10:50:05 AM »
Based on search results, David Quinn used to be the go-to for Hagon shocks but is no longer in business.  That said, what is the best avenue to order a set of shocks that are semi-customized, ie sprung to the rider’s weight and usage?

I got my Hagons built to custom specs from Michael Selman at Bella Course. Their website is offline as Michael is going thru some health issues but he still takes orders via email, phone, and you can message him on FB. They do mostly Triumph stuff but can order for our bikes.

Got mine direct from Hagon. They took my weight etc. and put them in the post within a couple of days.

I would go direct, tell them the bike and rider(s) weights and they custom build them, only problem is your new tarrifs into US
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

I ordered a p[air of Hagons for my 550F a few months ago, including my weight and how often I ride with a passenger. Got them shipped to me here in Mexico. I liked them because they look like stock but a little beefier, but found that they're decent but not all that...

I like Hagons for road use, fairly spirited road use on occasions. I was bouncing too much on the stock shocks. Now, no bouncing, but not harsh either. They do show up the front suspension though!

I went w progressive rate springs from CycleX up front to balance out the Hagons. I've been really happy w the whole setup.

That's interesting. A straight swap?

Yup. The springs are a little shorter so there's a spacer sleeve but otherwise they dropped right in. I initially rebuilt the fork w stock springs and then replaced them w the progressives. The difference is definitely noticeable during more aggressive riding/braking.

I also added preload adjusters that have about 1-1.25" of adjustment. Effect is minimal w those but they do seem to work.

I've got a leaky seal on one side so when I replace it, I'll prob try out the cartridge emulator things.
