CB 750K carb rubber dust covers
« on: November 01, 2025, 08:39:54 AM »
Has anyone tried the aftermarket" top of the carb" dust covers? OEM prices are just stupid.

Where is the best place for parts? Besides Ebay. I rebuilt an old car and there were some vendors who sold Chinese stuff that you just didn't use. I don't know the good from the bad yet with this bike. Thanks for any suggestions!

I prefer to use the Honda rubber as I've heard of many aftermarket ones cracking in short time.
I have thought about trying some from Yamiya but have held off with the tariff situation.

OK thank you den. I also have used JTMarks with success. If anyone else has an opinion I value it.
How is CB750 Supply?

I also am wondering about CMSNL. They have alot of hard to find stuff. But it looks like shipping is like $25.00. Curious about them if anyone has used them. For a big order might make sense.

Right, but $113.00 for four little rubber pieces is just stupid
These are high quality parts that will last.
If you want cheap buy china junk.

i think you're gonna find that the world of vintage bike prices for nos/oem parts is not discount prices.
I don't deal with it much
But you'll find good advice here.

I've used both Honda's and the aftermarket covers: the Honda covers outlast the aftermarket 10:1 at least. They also stay on the linkage: the aftermarket versions are fine for pictures used to sell a rebuilt bike, but in practice they will not stay in place on the linkage and split in 2-3 years, tops.
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Doing a cprrect restoration?  Yeah, you gotta have 'em.  I have never had them on any of the bikes I own.  Has not caused any problems.  My bikes get caught out in the rain from time to time, but they live in doors when not being ridden.  Assuming your bike will do the same, no need to worry about them.

That may be, but the fact remains that $113 for those parts is ridiculous no matter how you slice it. My question was whether the aftermarket boots are decent, and apparently they aren't great. No sarcasm needed.

I have bad experiences of aftermarket rubber parts to CB750. Crack within a season or 2.  Not only the inlet boots and cam chain tensioner close to ruin the engine.
Fork gaiters and dust cover instead of gaiters.
My old Honda dust covers were still not cracked when I restored the K6  2012. Mounted 1983, parked late 1990. At least  50.000km.
New  too cheap aftermarket cracked within 2-3 seasons. Not that big difference in price to get parts in no Honda bags.
Gaiters on my K2 cracked before 10.000 km.

If that should happen the carb rubbers mentioned here, only the job to replace them is well worth $100US to avoid.
Carbs off the bike, things apart,  replace rubbers and sync the carbs.

I understand why the question is written. If anyone has good experience.

I went with South Sound Honda. Got the real deal for a much better price. Was able to buy some gaskets and other stuff and still got it cheaper than the eBay price, which surprised me

It's been a while but that's where I got mine too.
Imho, it's amazing that Honda even still offers these!

I agree! I did get an email from them saying they don't carry part number 11398–300–306, which is the oil pan gasket. So I gotta find one of those
