More Mosport Memories
« on: December 14, 2025, 07:01:13 AM »
Stumbled across this the other day. Closest finish ever recorded at Mosport. This was at a Can-Am supporting race (thousands of spectators and TV coverage). The race was only 30 minutes long, but I remember being totally done by the end…..

Gaetan and I were very good friends. We finished side by side and had no idea who won until we came around to the “Winner’s Circle” presentation and they lined us up…. It was indeed a special day. We raced at more than a dozen events that year and the finishes were often that close. Grids of +40 cars were not uncommon!

Here are the final results for that year

This 1982 print is for sale on EBay.co.uk. #25 is me, followed by Ron Lauzon, my team mate #14 Terry DiFrancesco and #64 my best friend Jeff Bateman (driving my 1980 Team car). Mosport, Corner 9. We finished in that order.

Hey John...Honda Civic, right?  not CRX?

I had a CRX for one summer, got rid of my Mitsubishi 3000 and hurriedly bought a CRX while I searched for my dream car [at that time], an RX7 convertible.

The CRX was a good car until it met with untimely death!

Steve….. We all raced the base model Civic. 1200 cc’s with a four speed ‘box. When I stopped racing for Honda Canada, they gave me the first 1984 CRX that came to Canada. It was the red magazine “Test Car” for about 3 months and then I bought it for $2000! I drove it for 10 years and then my son’s kept it running for another five, until the front subframe rotted away and the ngine dropped to the road in our driveway…..

Yes, they were good cars.  I dont see them anymore and we dont have rust issues down here.

Here's one for sale...$15K?!  I think I paid a grand for the one I had back around '92?
