David silver Spares Fedex tax?
« on: December 16, 2025, 06:50:46 PM »
Bought a couple small items a few weeks ago.  Received no problem. Came from UK!
Got a bill from FedEx saying I owe them 14$ for declarations or some crap. Any one
seen this before? New tariffs? It seems a scam but the letter looks legit besides not saying where i bought items from.
I paid shipping at the time.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

I don't know if this post needs moved, but your bill is probably legit.  I think the tariff for UK goods is 10% and if the vendor doesn't collect it at checkout the shipper will bill the receiver.  I'll be paying about $20 in tariffs when my Trident main and rod bearings get here from England.

All down to Mr Trumps tarriffs mate, if you are in UK buying from US you have to pay post office, fedex, ups, dhl or others extra money just for them to collect the tax and pass it on to the government!

I'm just sure I heard a guy on TV say that another country was picking up the tariff. OK.  I promise to stop here.

I'm seeing some very confused-looking bills, too: DHL charged $16 to "release" the parts I ordered from Japan, but couldn't explain what the charge was exactly FOR. Parts I got from other countries have a higher shipping cost, so I think they are adding it to that.
