Parts Lists Question....
« on: April 16, 2007, 12:29:35 PM »
Regarding the O-RING dimensions listed in Honda Parts Lists: does anyone know for sure if it the inside diameter of the o-ring that's listed?

For example, my 400F parts list has part number 41123-516-000   O RING, 63 x 2.5

Is that 63 the inside diameter of the ring?  (A different 400F parts list I have has the instruction in the front of the list which says the the first dimension given is the diameter of the O-RING.  It doesn't say which diameter - I.D. or O.D.)

The real problem I'm having is that Honda doesn't make the particular o-ring I need any more.  That's the big one for the oil pump on a 400F (the "example" part number, above).  So I'm trying to find one somewhere else.  It would really help if I knew how to read the dimensions in the parts list(s) properly.

Any help (with either problem) would certainly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Zane

O-rings are specified with the ring I.D. and cord diameter. This is a 63mm I.D. ring made with 2.5mm cord... a 2.5mm ring from 63mm cord would be quite an oddity. Very small sizes like 2.5mm X 2mm are harder to figure out, but measuring the old O-ring or the sealed parts should help.
www.air-oil.com sells a vast selection of O-rings in small quantities, shipping kills you a bit but you should be able to get a couple for under $10.00 delivered.
