Very SAD News
« on: February 01, 2026, 06:08:34 PM »
Yesterday I learned that the best friend of Kannika's husband from Germany died in a motorcycle accident.  I met him and he showed me his bike when he first bought it. Super Nice Guy. I don't know anything of his riding experience but they went on bike tours together for many years often traveling to Koh Chang.

News reports mistakenly said the deceased rider was American which is incorrect as he was from Germany.  Kannika and her husband went to the hospital to identify the body and notified the wife and family.

I have ridden over that overpass many times.  It is truly scary.  A very steep incline at high speed with a slight turn.  Nearly impossible to see what is coming from the other direction and visually very disorientating as you are looking up at the sky.  Every time I go over that overpass it is always unnerving.

RIP

Sorry to hear of your loss.

Sorry to hear this, Kyle.

On average, one motorcyclist dies in a crash on Texas roads every day, according to the Texas DOT.
A very sad statistic.

So sorry to family and friends. That video is pretty gruesome and surprised they showed so much of the scene.

My sincere apologies for the gruesome links - perhaps not appropriate for the SOHC forum and should be deleted.  It was not my intention to cause distress but to highlight the importance of Safety.

Kyle I was a EMT for 26 years and the photo did not distress me, but it could others. What I meant is in WI they would show photos of the wreck, but not have the body in the picture too. You are correct. Such a sad story and a good lesson in safety .
