In addition to the front wheel I have also seen them installed on the headlight bucket and bike frame (in front of the driver) ;)

A quick check and they are often referred to as a Tax Disc Holder in the UK.  Surprised to learn some vintage bike owners like to install them with a replica printed copy of the tax disc along with the correct tax paid amount accurate for the year of the bike.

In my case the stainless steel holder is not for show or nostalgia for the past.  It is the actual current registration and for compliance with Thailand law.

Your German friend is funny!   You need to ride it and over 80kph just to spite him!

BTW - I've never seen those tax disc holders before.

Swedish cars had those round tax things back in the 1960's fastened inside the car. Left lower corner of the windscreen.
We had left hand traffic back then, everybody drove on the wrong side of the road. ;D
Changed to right side 1967. One day at a certain time.

I remember the scary moments.
Most cars had the steering wheel on left side so passing slower big trucks was a nightmare. My father asked my mother if it is ok to step on the pedal and pass.  Slow going Ford Taunus  12M Super 1960.

One last quick photo before I filled up the tank.  Not a spec of rust.  I'm quessing Yamiya applied a thin coat of some type of oil or rust preventative inside the tank before shipping  :)

Their site has a note saying to coat the inside of the tanks they sell. I didn't do that to mine, I just watch it.

New Yamiya reproduction CB750 gas tanks are typically supplied as bare steel and are not electroplated or permanently coated internally from the factory. They undergo water leak testing during manufacturing and, while dried, may contain slight surface flash rust or a light temporary oily residue when they arrive.

I'm not sure if this is correct.  When the tank first arrived the opening at the top and petcock mounting holes were tightly sealed with heavy duty tape.  I removed the tape to inspect the inside. To my eye the metal did not look like bare metal but perhaps some kind of electroplating???  I  stuck my nose inside the tank and there was only a faint smell of oil. I also ran my finger inside the tank and could feel a slight oily residue.

I did not treat or clean the inside of the tank and filled it up with pure ethanol free high octane 95 gasoline (0% ethanol)

The ones I have used were the same. I sloshed a bit of gas in and out before filling. You should be fine as is.
