Terry….. Speaking of dickheads, here’s another one:

I dealt with this guy when I was restoring my Benelli 750SEI. He desperately needed some parts I had for a race replica he was building at the time. We agreed to a price and I sent them off. After he for the he offered me parts instead of cash and I reluctantly agreed. Parts never arrived. Made excuses for a while and then simply stopped responding. LOTS of others have had the same experience and he has recently started offering Honda cb750 parts for sale. DO NOT DEALWITHTHIS CROOK!

Did you skateboard as a kid?  8)

I did but nothing like the younger kids did later on, mine had steel wheels. My brother recently told me, one day our sister had street skates and a toy ironing board, the next day she didn't and you had a skateboard.

I spent the day doing what my late brother requested, me and my nephew moving his guns and re-loading equipment to a safe spot upon his demise. Oh, and dealing with a Bi-Polar nutjob niece. Sweet, angry, confused, crying, outburst, sorry, not sorry. Wants everything in spite of having a sister.
I'm mad that he left me such a mess to administer. There are enough firearms and accessories to equip a small gun shop.

A death in the family really lets you find out the truth about family members. We have to go to my big brother's memorial in a couple of weeks. He walked away from the family 50 years ago. Now we're expected to show up for the service in mourning. It will probably be very awkward. He didn't even show up for my sister's funeral so I don't know if we'll actually go because I might have to tell the truth about how he treated his own family.
I still have my little brother who's one of my riding partners. My big brother also rode but neither of us ever went on a ride with big brother. We're already planning our first long distance ride of the year.
Don, once again I'm sorry for your loss but it inspires me to spend even more time riding with my little brother before I can't ride anymore.

I lost my grandfather when I was 6 years old,  7 same year.
He passed at 81 yo.
I thought that was very old and wanted to live that long.
Later on I have changed my mind. Ride bikes to 81, and continue to enjoy life another 10 years  doing bathroom business without help.

Yesterday my Toro LX 425 20hp riding mower died. I bought it 15 years ago with 46 hours on it for $900. I figure I got my money's worth because I use it year round. Mow in the summer and tow the wood wagon two or three times a week all winter. So it's about 30 years of use. The Kohler 20hp single cylinder still runs great, the transaxle locks up in forward and reverse but rolls easily in neutral.
Now I have to figure out what brand to get. I hope to find another slightly used mower again. A decent new one up to the task is around $3k. The Toro was good but they only make zero turn models now, not so good for towing the wood wagon. Looking at a bigger Husqvarna and a Troy-Bilt Super Bronco.

Have you tried finding a replacement trans-axle, or seeing if the one you have can be repaired?

My job as executor of my brothers little estate ended abruptly. My niece hired her own lawyer when she realized I wasn't going to hand her everything that her dad had. There were bills to be paid and a sister expecting her fair share.
So, in absence of a will and she was hiding most of the papers that I needed I happily bowed out of being executor. I told her sister to lawyer up and stopped de-hoarding a shop, house, storage unit and car.
Now I'm inspired to be a better steward of my own little slice of the planet. It's trash day and both cans are heavy.

That is a shame, Don. You did the right thing to step back, no chance of being the dirty dog of the family.

I'm not going to go that route, I have too many other projects going on. Transaxles are really expensive and they don't sell repair parts for them. If I could get one for a reasonable price I would replace it. My source for mower parts shut down because the kids didn't want to take over a successful business so I will look for a nice low hour mower. If I don't have any luck I'll get a new one. It would be nice to not have to replace worn parts every spring. Last year was belts, the year before was steering shaft bearings, the year before that was deck spindles.

Kelly, it sounds like it's time to turn the mower into yard art. Maybe Ofreen will come by and take pictures of it, he does have the coolest yard art pictures.

I already have an old small tractor, a 76' Yanmar YM 1300D that does everything but mow the lawn. I bought a new mower today.
