Another Wixom fairing question
« on: March 16, 2026, 11:25:56 AM »
My Wixom fairing, bought in 1971 for my K1 750, always had a black rubber "u-channel" edge molding around the headlight opening to help seal the gap around the headlight.  But I don't remember there ever being a similar rubber molding around the holes for the front turn signals on my fairing.

Should there be, or does anyone recall there being, a rubber molding around the flasher holes?

Thanks much for any info!  ZT

I don't think the rubber will bend that small a diameter will it?
And no I don't remember it it had a welt around the signals.

The one that got donated to Sean's K4(Belfast-2-Belfast by Bike) didn't have it around the signals.

I also have one on a barn bike and it doesn’t have anything around the turn signal holes……

Thanks to you too, John!

I'm not sure if this is original Wixom; but it's what I took off my fairing for painting last year.  I may have replaced the original rubber molding with something "off the shelf" when I painted everything gold back in the late 70's.

Does this cross section, with the little round hollow bumper behind the u-channel, look to be original Wixom molding?

EDIT:  BTW Stu, OEM or not, I think this molding could wrap the small diameter flasher holes... along with a little contact cement.

I removed one and hung it up, it didn't have either.
No matter how many times you paint over a shadow, it's still there.

Tom….. Looked through some old pictures (printed and in an Album!). I don’t think I had one on the headlamp either…..

Tom….. you might want a seperate post, but to answer your question, I found this photo of a “1971 cb750Tool Kit”. Not sure if it is totally correct. I wonder if the Owners Manual list the tool kit contents? What are you missing? J.

Thanks John!

I do have my original K1 CB750 Owner's Manual; though it's seen better days...

Here are pages 86 & 85 showing tools and identification.

I'll put together a list of what I'm missing and get an email off to you.

Thanks John!

I'll still be looking for a Honda tool bag and a few other items to complete my kit but I'm more than halfway there now.
I appreciate your help.
