Worst School Tragedy
« on: April 20, 2007, 12:39:30 AM »
Since folks like Terry and others (yall figure out who you are) can't get away
from the gun debate for 5 minutes, and this event doesn't really involve them anyway.

Here is the worst tragedy in US School history,

With all due respect and sympathy to the victims and their families of the Columbine and McDonald's shootings, the Oklahoma bombing, and other mass murders, they were not the worst mass murders of children in the US.

On May 18, 1927, 45 people, mostly children, were killed and 58 were injured when disgruntled and demented school board member Andrew Kehoe dynamited the new school building in Bath, Michigan out of revenge over his foreclosed farm due in part to the taxes required to pay for the new school.

Maybe that's why we have laws regulating the sale of dynamite now...

This hits me in two ways. I was a School Board member during both Colombine and 9/11 talk about public hysteria! I never fail to marvel at the depravity that humans can fall to. I am afraid to say the next Worst School Tradgedy may not have  happened yet.

I agree Bobby, that's why I think the News Media ought to leave the body count
comparison alone in their reports. Sorta eggs some people on to out do the last
tragedy. Like body counts in Vietnam. Tallies don't matter if your one of the individuals
killed or one of their parents. And whats up with airing the shooters video.
Are people really that morbid that they would want to hear what he has to say?

It is really sic that there are folks out there that look up to those like Cho. :(  Life is so precious and then there are folks like that who are out to take out whoever and as many as they can. Shame we can  redirect them to be in the military, to fight for us. I know you wouldn't want to actually put a weapon in their hands. It was just a dumb thought, I know. ::)  It's just that I am at such a loss at how anyone could be so bent out of shape, that they could do such a thing. :-\

It is really pathetic that there are people out there who do things like this but unfortunitly it is in some peoples nature to be cruel sadistic SOBs....Take Hitler for example..look at all the war crimes he has done. Not saying that these people are like hitler in that way but i was just bringing up another example of a sick individual. As someone who managed to avoid being involved in a high school shooting as i mentioned in the other topic i tend to look at things a little closer. Main reason being is i know for a fact that had those two kids managed to make their plan work and not get caught as they did i would have definetly been on their hit list...However if fate ment for things like that to happen..i perhaps would have been the one bringing an end to their little killing spree..who really knows. I just know i seriously did not enjoy having to even come up with a survival plan that day....Now looking at this as an ex Firefighter. I realise that killers and sickos will do anything to get their point across...some of them treat their crimes as an art form. The highschool shootings are an example of this...each one striving to bring about the highest body count before their own end. The manson family would be another example of killers treating death as art. Im sure given enough time i could probably come up with a few more examples but in all respect i would rather not....

         Outlaw,

I really feel for you man. :(  I really do, just as I fee; for anyone who has, or had to deal with something like this in any way, shape or form. :(  An experience like  that has got to be so hard to get out of your mind and not dwell on it. :-\ I can only try to imagine what it would be like to have something like that in the back of your mind. You could have just as easily been a statistic. I, for one, am glad you're with us guy. ;)

Outlaw, I am truly glad it did not go down. As an ex Firefighter we know you are a brave guy. I guess we always need to keep our eyes open, we just need to avoid paranoia. Except of course when we are riding, we know that Soccer Mom on the cell phone will do her best to kill us.  :D

Outlaw,  Bobby's absolutely right and more folks DO need to keep their eyes and ears open now days.
And, as far as the Soccer Mom goes, that's a BIG TEN-FOUR!! :o And I'll tell you of another bad place for a guy and his bike, right in the middle of Rush Hour Traffic with a bunch of women involved, cause most of them are gonna be on their cell phones! Good way to end up mangled! :-\

Bill, I have no idea what rush hour is like in Ark, but in this part of Ny I have to commute through areas that have been settled by Mexicans and other Central Americans. I am not afraid of being attacked, they just drive all over the place. What most would say is a close call, is just another day in the Hood for me.

         Bobby,
I understand where you're coming from. In my times, I've been in traffic in a number of cities in Calif from just below LA up to around Novato, Texas in the Dallas Forth Worth area, Mich. in the Detroit area Minn. Minneapolis area, Virginia in the Richmond; Fort Bliss, Wash DC areas and Indiana in the Indianapolis area and the Little Dock , Arkansas area can be pretty trying at times (although not as bad as the others). Never been to NY yet and I'm sure that there are those who've been involved in worse traffic than I have and some who haven't. Either way, a bike rider can be in serious trouble in that situation. Take care there.                Later on, Bill :) ;)

Around here theres some idiots who have done their best to take me out when im in my cage...i tend to cringe at the thought of what could have happened had i been on the VF...But then again there is that simple little fact that i have more manouverability on the bike then i do in the car...and with the idiots around here...safety is a twist of a throttle away on the bike.

Out on the road, or highway, it's gonna be a challenge to survive and here's hoping that none of us  meet our maker that way. Here's to many many miles of safe riding. ;)
