Extra part do not know where from.
« on: October 26, 2009, 05:24:10 AM »
Hi im new to this and have a couple of 78 cb750f2 . I am doing a bottom and top rebuild and found a pin on the floor and dont know where its from. any help would be appreciated.
 its 4mm by 6.8mm.
I have looked through the parts catalougue. Its to short to from the gear selector  and i dont think it came from the oil pump is there anywhere else it could be from. i have searched everywhere and am a bit reluctent to put motor fully back together untill i know where its from. Do you have to pull the pump apart to get to the pin. all i did was remove the pump removed the screen and cleaned it.

Never seen one fall out, but make sure the one locating advance plate in the ignition is in place.

I will check that when i get home this arvo. This particular motor had frozen pistons and took a little effort to free some parts could of dilodged something. sorry for the no picks. the part looks the same as the rollers on the gear shift drum spindle only shorter.

4mmx6.8mm sounds like maybe one of the pins that locate the pil pump body onto the oil pump valve body.  Did you separate those while you had the oil pump off?

6.8 is very short indeed.  Very few places on the motor use pins that small.
