Golf Carts
« on: March 25, 2026, 04:44:05 PM »
We’ve always had an old golf cart around the farm. First one was an EZEGO with a Robins 2-stroke engine. Neat design with no gearbox, to go in reverse you simply reversed the polarity on the starter/generator and it ran backwards. Access to the engine was by flipping up the seat and a small panel in the back. Torture. My grandkids wore it out to the point the frame cracked and the engine had almost no compression.

The next one was an ancient Yamaha G1 (another 2-stroke). The entire seat/rear body unit flips open and it’s a treat to work on. I mounted a work box on the back and a trailer hitch for a small yard trailer. My wife uses it around her gardens and I take it to the track on race weekends. It also got a lot of G’children abuse and my wife has decided it needs to be retired and replaced with something more attractive (honestly?)! The lady next door has an electric cart so apparently we need to go “green” as well….

I’m off to see a 2015 EXEGO 48V TXT on the weekend. Anyone have any advice?

The actual EZEGO TXT 48V I’m going to look at (appropriately green). The seller says the batteries are “less than a year old and it’s mint”. I know nothing about these but have a funny feeling I’m about to learn…..
