I have alot of trouble getting on the site lately. Anyone else, or know why?

There has been a high amount of "bot" traffic hitting the site, overloading the server. This morning there was an all time high of 24,667 hits. The problem had lessened for a while, but has started back up in the last week or so.

Only members with a log in to access the site will keep bots outside?
If an IP tries 3 times, it can be skipped for a while, hours, days....

The AI servers will make the internet impossible.

Soon only via AI filtered interfaces that will not allow any information outside its program?
AI creators harvest all info on the Internet and only deliver what they think that specific person can get based on all info they have logged about that person?

Information theft.
How will the content be refilled by normal people when access is blocked?

already starting. My toyota "car care nut" mechanic has been involved in an AI you tube video making a false claim about a "test" he did not make. He had to make a disclaiming video.

And identity theft? Once AI kicks in?  good luck.

Regular use is intermittent for me. Some days I key in a reply or a new post and it refuses to load and is lost. Other days everything works fine. This only happens to me on this site, so I suspect all is not well……

AI makes me think of that writer (who's name escapes me at the moment...) who penned, "Much ado about nothing."
AI is filling the Internet with activity, mixing truth and lies together, and declaring itself the winner and authority - with no useful results.
I'm glad I put my gathered knowledge about these bikes in print, much harder to alter those.

The amount of bot traffic seems to vary with the time of day. Yesterday around 6:00 PM West coast time I started noticing slowdowns and high traffic, which continued off and on until after 11:00.

Exactly same for me. Tried to get on about an hour ago and just gave up. Now, all is well.

AI, like so many developments over the years, has its place but of course it will be used for nefarious purposes by some. Remember when the pocket calculator was going to ruin math education? I know that some folks (like me, not very good at math) need it for most math but it ended up making many things go faster and in many cases more accuratly. Music CD's come to mind also. Purists say they are inferior to vinyl, I won't get into that but they sure made music ownership easier. Many these days don't actually own any of their music collection. I use streaming services but I still have my 6 disc changer (I got a new one) to listen to my own stuff and I still love it. Modern times and developments are always a + and - proposition.

You can not trust an AI answer to be correct.
It collects stuff from the Internet and represents the results in a typical AI way.
The answers must have links to the origin of the answers presented as facts so all data can be backtracked to see who wrote what.
It can be idiots repeating what other idiots have copied.

You need to know about the subject as well.
It can be a quick way to get a list of answers beautifully represented.

When searching on subjects that can be political, lies  and cover ups will be part of the answers. You will know when you see it.
There are typical subjects where there are political answers vs the truth often presented as conspiracy theories, myths etc
This will probably be worse when AI will serve  information based on what we are allowed/expected to know as individuals or in a region.

Use of different web browsers can help.
You will learn when AI is giving wrong answers.

When searching on CB750 oil pressure, AI did not mention a good pressure can be a partly clogged filter with bad oil flow which is very important.
This when I was looking for a thread here where several guys wrote their pressures vs rpm in their engines  cold and hot.

The bad thing is that AI will gather information about you via your phone and computer. Your searches, communications, with whom etc etc.

There are informative videos on Youtube about disabling information about the user to be shared and sold.
I have an Android OS phone so I have disabled functions that make phone slower when sending info to Google about what I'm doing

More is to never allow more grants for an app than it is supposed to do.
A weather app should not have access to my photos etc.

The todays phones work so much faster with fast Internet so an eventual background task sending your data can be done in a few sec.

I wonder when Google maps can report speeding

I did not like to see a report about my rides where Google wrote a report for me riding a motorcycle with a route on a map with times.
Yes. I had photos too.
I disabled stuff....

I have switched off 5G for that reason. 4G works fine.

The bad thing here is all information that  is pumped out to AI servers making the site not accessible.

I've seen the forum take So Long,then Not load and it finally timed-out;this has been going on for a long time.
