For about 15 minutes tonight could not get the site to respond, From about 9 pm to 9:15 EDT.

Apple is training their AI, and causing havoc everywhere.. Their bots ignore all the normal bot "rules" regarding limits..

Yet another reason to hate CrApple ...

It would be fine with an AI filter to avoid hanging the site. Time between searches from the same IP or Network. Check of MAC address if manipulating the IP address?
A wait time when not allowing traffic, inhibit time from same device

Just after 4pm EDT today, I was monitoring the number of users and it jumped from about 1300 to over 7k in about 2 minutes....

I don’t follow these numbers but this is the problem, yes? 17000 and 25000 users raising hell with sohc4.

Traffic has been very light all day, besides the 17,629 peak that happened sometime this morning. I did notice an increase just after you posted, Kevin.
