old gas.
« on: July 21, 2008, 08:36:24 PM »
Sold my V3 250 last night to a mates bro for $500.
I told him it had nipped up on the rear cylinder plus it needed a few minor bits of jobs doing to it.
My mate phoned me tonight to say his brother had charged the battery, cleaned the carbs and it started first kick.
One of the jobs that wanted doing was the fuel filler cap would not unlock.
I asked how he had got it to open and he said he hadn't, he had fired it up on the fuel that was in the tank.
I last ran the bike in 2001. :o :o :o :o :o :o

It might have started Dan but I'm not sure how long it will last when it gets hot.
That gas must have been like varnish. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Man, that old gas sure does smell rotten.  When I got my KO project 1 year ago tomorrow it had sat with some gas in the bottom of the tank for 17 years per the PO.  I figured that gas must have cost about 75% less back then... ;D

The junk bike I had last year had 1991 gas in it, about 1 1/2 gallons.  I used all of it in my lawnmower last summer/fall but boy did it stink.
