CB750K2 with 657A carbs. Making the cable adjustments on my carbs. I’ve got everything adjusted as far as it will go to allow the most FreePlay. I can live with what I have but I wouldn’t mind a little bit more, and I’m kind of wondering why I don’t have more adjustment. I did have to replace the throttle plate when rebuilding these carbs, so there is a little bit of a variable. Pretty sure before rebuild did have some free play, but I have not ridden the bike prior to tearing into it. Just got it started to verify it would run.
Looking through the repair manual on page 195 and 196. At the bottom of page 195, there is an Overcross stop adjustment which addresses setting the gap on the eccentric link pin for a clearance of 2 to 3 mm between the throttle lever and the link pin. Then on page 196 at the bottom of the page, it says that the throttle lever should hit the link pin when the throttle is fully closed. So that’s one question. Although, either way, I doubt that has anything to do with my lack of FreePlay.
The other question is on page 196 there is a full open stopper adjustment. The stopper screws should be adjusted so that there’s a distance of about 33 mm between the top and the adjuster screw with a throttle in full open position. I’m not sure what that even does and what I would even be measuring here? 33 mm between the top of what?
Again, it probably has nothing to do with the FreePlay. Just wondering if they were Any other adjustments that I may be overlooking. Throttle response is smooth and not binding. But damn, they put a heavy return spring in these things!
