Can the glass mirror be removed and reinstalled? if so, how do you go about it?

I have done that on some 750 OEM mirrors. The glass sits in a rubber cup so to speak. I take something thin and pry carefully to pop the rubber cup and mirror out. The mirror sits completely in this cup which surrounds the entire back of the mirror.

I'm sure the rubber is shot. I would like to get the mirrors rechromed. I guess I'll pull one apart and see. Thanks

Try immersing in water and slowly bring to a boil. I’ve managed to get some out AND broken a few too. Only to repair a perfect original with a cracked mirror for the Sandcast. Isn’t it cheaper to just buy a new set than rechrome?

I have found some NOS in the past, but haven't seen any for awhile. Paid $100 for the last set. The chrome shop quoted $50 each, so dollar wise about the same. As NOS become harder to find I was just looking for another option.

I think if you have a quality chrome shop the finish on your original would be better than the NOS chrome.
