Rear shock mount ???
« on: October 02, 2007, 07:27:13 PM »
I have two rear lowering kit shock mounts, they move the lower shock mount point to just behind the the axle. The shock angle changes quite a bit. The bike's not quite ready for the road yet, I bolted them on just to see how much it lowered the rear. I like having the seat lower. Are these things a good idea? Will the bike handle better or worser?

All I need are front brake hoses and an alternator gasket and the 76 K6 will he ready for a shake down cruise after ten years in carport storage.   TIA   Jbird 8)

The only thing you can be sure of with the lowering blocks is that it will handle "different".  Better or worse is the rider's own opinion.  I have them on my 550 and they work fine, but I pretty much only take it on short, in-town trips.  I tried them on my 750, and didn't like the change in handling.  They decreased the cornering clearance and suspension travel too much.

If you want the bike *lower*, as opposed to wanting a particular 'look', you can do several things.  Search for the threads, 'cause we've discussed it a bit.

I have shorter shocks, which are frequently available on eBay, or elsewhere.  I also have a cut-down seat.  For me that works well.

If you lower your ride, say goodbye to hi-speed cornering. Hard things will drag when you don't want them to.

Maybe  i'm wrong but i think you'll need a shorter side stand.
