« on: April 18, 2007, 12:27:31 PM »
Hello.
Does anyone know any high-quality machine shop in Europe especialized on japanese bikes. I´m looking for a shop similar to APEraceparts or Dynoman.
Thank you very much.

It would be great in Spain, but I didn't find anything here. Maybe in Germany, UK or France could be any. Thank you.

I want to rebuild my cylinder head (cb 750 K7). If the machine shop provides the guides and valves, much better. If not, I will have to purchase them from USA. The fact is that I don't trust on my local machine shops. I went to them to remove the cylinder studs and they ruined the crankcase threads. For the cylinder head, I'm looking for something better, somebody with experience on cb 750s, and if they have the items to replace, much better.

Send it to Mike Rieck in the States, theres nothing in a head that he can't fix......does a mean porting job to boot.

While you are in Spain, can you tell me what Efectivo and Cambio means in English,...thanks.

Efectivo means "cash" and Cambio means "currency", talking about money.

I agree with Sam here...people send Mike Rieck heads from all over the world and he does an excellent job at a great price.

cheers
Andy

Sorry for treading on this subject. "Cambio" means "change" too...

Well, now back to the subject. When Ignacio asked about performance, Mike Rieck inmediately came to mind. But as long as he only want a valve work, I'm positive the cost of sending the head and the postage back from the US will easily exceed the cost of the labour of any decent machinist.

Ignacio, I took my CB350 head to a local shop near Madrid. They charged 30 euro per each cylinder lapped, 3 euro per each valve seat cut, and 4 euro pear each valve grinding. You can buy springs and valves from spanish Honda, I buy a lot of things from them, but be ready to pay the price. Valves are pretty much standard, and many pistons and rings are too. Many machinists have catalogs from different manufacturers; as long as the piston, valves and rings dimensions fit, you are good to go.

Look in the yellow pages for "talleres de rectificados". Once you go there, have a look around. If they don't have a counter, are located in a suburban area, and have lots of multi-cylinder heads around, that's the place to drop your engine head. The shop I took the cylinders and head even welded a broken fin. Not a brilliant job but enough for me.
