WWII Bike Porn
« on: April 18, 2007, 07:22:06 AM »
Here's a bike I found displayed at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans when I drove down there a few weeks ago. It is a German DKW NZ350. The plaque says it's a medium motorcycle, built for the Wehrmacht, and used to deliver messages because of their ability to negotiate heavy traffic and travel cross-country.

Looking at those front forks makes me wonder where Confederate got their idea from.... Look at the forks on the Wraith.

I assumed it's a twin since it has 2 exhaust pipes, although who knows, it may be a thumper with dual exhaust valves.

Motor and mufflers look a lot like a Jawa. I posted a picture of one a while back. I'll see if I can
locate it. Thanks for posting it. It is an interesting bike of old. ;)

                                                         Later on, Bill :) ;)

That is nothing really special. There are lots of those in my country. I mean, in Europe you will find quite a few of them, and NZ 350 is classified as a "common" one. I couldn't find anything in english, but if anybody reads Polish, i can point you out to a lots fo info.. :)

Well, I found the picture but, I'm having some issues trying yo post it. At any rate, the Jawa motorcycles (125, 175 and 250 singles) had the 2 exhaust pipe setup for years and later (60' or 61') replace with a larger single system. I liked the dual smaller system better myself.
