CB650 Measurement Needed
« on: April 20, 2007, 09:39:44 PM »
Hey,

I received my HEL front brake line in the mail today, and it looks way too short.  My bike is at the painter, so I can't measure the stock line.  The HEL line was supposed to be shorter, but it just looks way too short; it's 32" long.  I also cannot find the tablet that I wrote all the measurements down on to check.  If someone with a 650, preferably a '79, could measure their brake line, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

IF mine is origional (everything else was on the bike when i got it i beleive), then it should be 38" long.
one end has 0 degree bend, the other has a 15 or so degree bend.
Pretty sure it is origional, little yellow band near the banjo is dated 12/78.

Hope this helps.

Oh, and yes, this brake line is off a '79cb650.

Thanks a lot.  That relieves some nervousness.  6" shorter sounds about right (dumb me...can't find the paper I wrote the measurements on).  Yes, I'm using the stock 1979 single disk up front with the stock master cylinder.

My brake setup will be:

Front:
Rebuilt stock master cylinder/reservoir, rebuilt caliper, HEL brake line, DP Sintered Metal pads, stock disk, and Bel-Ray DOT4 fluid.
Rear:
Stock drum works better than the front right now, so I'm not touching it.

I think that will be a good setup, not great, but a whole lot better than it is right now.

A word about HEL, great product/customer service/shipping/etc.  They're just south of me also; down in Tampa.
