We used to work in a bar together so we were usually durnk at the end of a shift, which is when he said it. He really did say it but I figured he was taking the piss when he said it to me. I worked with two scots, four Irish, and two english at that bar, and at the end of my first month nobody could understand what I was talking about because I was using all these scot, irish, and english phrases but without the cheeky accent. I do kind of miss that job.

One thing I did learn though is a scotsman can't say "purple burgular alarm" clearly....too many R and G sounds.

(please excuse me, I must take the piss)

So what is it with your toilets anyway. I mean, do you HAVE to pinch a loaf on a porcelain shelf and hope that the tide will wash it away? At least we have the decency to drop our stools in a whirling vortex to insure that we don't have to spend any time peekin' and sniffin' the mud monkey.

I have to say these "attempts" at British slang by non-British are giving me a laugh this Friday afternoon...especially Iieism who got it all mixed up  ;)

He still hasn't got the foggiest Scooby Doo what "taking the piss" means, so don't mess up my jelly...

I think you wanted to say "he still hasnt got a Scooby Doo what......" or you could say "Scoobiest....."

You dont need to add "foggiest" in there as thats what Scooby Doo means!!  ;D ;D ;D  - dont have a clue =  Scooby Doo!

lol lol,
Andy

The Yard the inch the foot the pound the ton the English have forever screwed us all for when we need to procure a bolt for our trusty motor bikes statisticly 1/2 of all the fasteners/taps/die's) you own will be the wrong thread pitch and diameter which of course as we all know is based on the inch.  The english screwed us all   LOL!! ::)

Wentworth...you sure you don't mean Whitworth? Those wonderful 55 degree threaded fasteners invented by our occasionally dotty friends across the pond? I've been told that, when sharpened to a point, a Whitworth bolt is best suited to removing the cap from a bottle of refreshing, warm beer.  ;D ;D ;D

Wentworth is the old Whitworth system that disappeared for lack of products where it was used.  ;D

The ton in 3rd gear is easy with 18/48 and stock (at least, stock K0) cam. (I think about 105 is 8500 rpm with this config, and 110/90 back tire).
No.

Ok I confess I did  not run a tach for a long time..

I do remember with a stock motor hitting 115 in 4th at 9000 rpm..

I am going to have to use a tach again when i get a fresh motor..

Not on 18/48 you didn't.

15/45 will get you about 120 on 110/90/18's at 9k.
18/48's will get you about 135 on 110/90/18's at 9k O_o

You have a smaller back wheel?

Unless I'm doing the math wrong...
No.

I did say 4th.   the 135 with 18/48 sounds like 5th?

I had,
16 inch wheel, maybe1/4 inch lower.
 either 18 or 17 front, 48 rear.

900 Kaw came up on me as we came to a straight, hsad to do it.. ;D.. shoulda seen the glance  he gave, when I grabbed 5th, but it didnt go faster.. lol..

I used to run 17/54 a lot, man can it eat hills and get moving fast... ;D

I get 125ish for a 130/90/16, 17/48 at 9k in 4th.

Probably a Carlisle 500x16...back in 77 ish..

I dont really consider stock speedo as actual speed.. and the number you shift at on the tach, is not necessarily accurate, but just figure out which number, and then use it..

Yeah, totally agree with this. Never can be sure what your actual rpms are with a long, old, cable driven tach. Just shift when it feels and sounds correct. I'm with ya on that.

Oh, yeah, I think the 500-16 is something like a 130/80/16 or something. Someone correct me.
No.
