vintage honda riding jackets?
« on: April 19, 2007, 08:44:28 PM »
been lookin for my riding gear. see a lot of the crotch rocket jackets with honda logos and such. are there any retro/vintage style honda jackets?
But thence came the Great Schism, when the two like tribes diverged, and the Bobbers did take the Road to Cruiserdom and the Cafe Racers did ride to Sportbikedom and they did pollute the lands along their paths with their abominable spawn of Choppers, Stuntaz and like manner of unholy douchebaggery

Back in the day (late '70s/early '80s) Honda had a range of clothing under the Hondaline banner. Here's a (tacky) example:

If you spend some time trolling eBay as a start-off resource you'll be bound to find something...

That black one is hot! If I had $695 to spend I'd have one.

That is a sweet looking jacket, but if I had $695 to spend, I'd have yet another bike! :)

Those sound like one hell of a jacket. Hand made and all. I would bet the quality is very exceptional.

I am going to be building 2-3 ciomoputers for a local historical society.  If I can make 2-300 of overhead each, that jackets as good as mine.

I think the word you're looking for is, "amazing". I sold a Vanson one-piece suit at the shop. Measured the guy up and three weeks later, it came in. Talk about quality!

Now if I only had $700 to drop on a jacket....

I've been thinking about one like this, since it has a kind of a 70's flavor with Woody and all.  Plus, it has a bit of body armor in it.

How about your skin?  Not sure about the jacket you have bought, but most of the stuff I see in the mall is so thin that the protection is probably minimal if at all.

"Leathers are really worth the price! By James R. Davis

With the colder weather the odds are that many of you have begun wearing leather chaps and heavier jackets. Though pretty expensive, there's ample proof that these provide more than protection from the cold.

In studies of 'survivability' of various garment materials to a 50 MPH ride on asphalt, for example, denim lasted no more than FOUR FEET before wearing through. Kevlar, on the other hand, lasted EIGHTEEN FEET. But standard motorcycle quality (about three times heavier than fashion jacket material) lasted EIGHTY-SIX FEET. That's more than 20 times as effective as your jeans in protecting your hide."

;D  Now, that's funny.  You use facts to try to re-enforce your arguement and she uses it to re-enforce hers.  That SUCKS!!!   ;D
