girlfriend's new computer running the same office 2003 we've had on others.
but this one when you go to add text into a document in between text you've already typed... it overwrites the text following your insertion as opposed to just placing the text into where you double clicked your cursor... wtf?

please help... this is super annoying

If you accidentially hit the "insert" button on your keyboard, Word will over-write letters.  Try pressing it again to cancel this and return to actually inserting stuff.

thanks sender!
just one more tick mark to why i hate this keyboard!  brand new awesome computer and awesome keyboard except that typing does not flow on it and my fingers don't land in the right places when i get over toward the backspace and enter key.
i'm used to my dell laptop which crashed yesterday by the way... dell sucks, their customer service sucks, the product sucks.  we've had 2, 3 yr old laptops conk out w/in the last 3 months.  battery goes first, then the hard drive, then it wigs out for about a day, then it won't do anything.

anyway, i'm really surprised i never new about the insert key... i think it is in a different place on mine... probably why i didn't ever hit it  ;)

As an offset printer, I found this subject line to be totally hilarious.  Word is the bane of my existence :D   Word documents reflow depending on which computer or OS you open them with. Graphics disappear entirely. Word only supports CMYK, RGB (no Spot colors). A nifty program for printing reports and such from the source computer, but useless for much else, in my opinion.

OK, so maybe I'm being a little harsh towards ol' Word. It's just that I've got to show up extra early on Monday in order to troubleshoot 15 Word documents that HAVE to get done ASAP. The client didn't understand the concept of converting to .pdf or was "too busy" to do it (usually the case). Of course, if there is ANYTHING wrong with the finished job the client will expect us to redo it for free, despite my numerous warnings about problems associated with Word.

I'm sure, Heffay, that if all our clients were as savvy as you that there would be no problems whatsoever. Unfortunately, anyone with a computer these days thinks they can be a desktop publisher :P

yea, scondon... i can see how w/ being a printer it might be a bit more troublesome.  especially trying to fix other peoples ineptness.
the reason i wrote that title is because it really is a program for the masses and is quite easy in most instances.  except when you accidentally hit a command that you don't have any idea what it is  ;)
p.s.  thanks for the vote of confidence  :)

Don't tell anyone, but I do use Word often in the privacy of my own home  ;D       The Adobe Suite programs can be overkill for 90% of my personal stuff. Word is like a Swiss Army knife, a handy tool to have around as long as you don't have to actually "build" anything ;) :)
