Painting side covers
« on: April 21, 2007, 05:36:08 am »
I know this question really falls under the jurisdiction of personal preference, but I figure I'll ask it anyway.

Should I paint my side covers, or just leave them black?

I know factory side covers were mostly black, but since I'm painting parts of the bike anyway...???

Here's a pic of the seat as the first coat is drying. I think this is my first painting attempt ever without fingers!!!

It's just the hump that is going to be blue. The rest of the seat pan I have painted with the truck bed liner out of a spray can. I figure, A, it's black; B, It will help keep the rust away; and C, I had a can on the shelf to use.   ;D

Now I've just got to touch up the tank and fix all the tiny dents and dings....

On café bikes I like black aftermarket sidecovers with some shiny color on the tank and some chrome. On stockers I think the painted sidecovers look better.
