Oil temp running values
« on: May 27, 2007, 05:48:02 AM »
I have read this in many books, so I take it must be the norm.

Air cooled engines run between 70 and 120 deg C....85 C is normal.
Anybody has found different values

Hi johnny,

I remember awhile back there was a thread about this.

It basically centered around a discussion about someone installing an oil temperature gauge on their bike.  There was a pretty fair amount of input on the subject.

A lot of the temperature values recorded by riders depended on what speed and type of traffic they were riding in:  stop and go traffic.......... how long a rider might have to sit at a red light and remain stationery; .......open highway cruising............. engine RPM........... the oil viscosity used.......... probably even the age and condition of the oil (new or grungy).......and the air temperatures of their specific location at the time............ hot Arizona desert or cool Montana mountains.........

A lot of variables to deal with.........

If you search under oil temperature, you could read that thread at your leisure......... Good luck on your search........... ;)
