Topic: Can anybody tell me the float height for the CB350K4 twin?

The official Honda manual only said "check with the float gauge and correct if necessary", but didn't specify the measurement. The Haynes manual said 19 mm (+- 0,5 mm). But, when I tried to check it, even with the bowls touching the carb body -that is, pressing the needle with no possible further movement- float height was 19.5 mm. That seemed too strange for me, and as they were set on both carbs at 24 mm (I just have cleaned the carbs, jets and replaced o-rings) I have left them that way because the float height is not something that will be modified without somebody messing with it.


Does anybody have some manual to confirm if 24 mm is the correct float height?

Thanks for the link Green550F. Seems that there was three different setups for the CB350 along the time it was sold. The last one, with a height of 26 mm would make sense. According to the table, it would be from Engine # 1065279-onwards, and my engine number is 40503947. That is, seems that there was two different setups for the first 65278 engines built, and from then on no further changes were made.


Those changes were not covered in either of my manuals. Thanks for the link again; I have not installed the carbs yet so I'm still on time to set the height up.

What is your "little red book"? I mean, which manual? As I said, neither the official Honda nor the Haynes -reprinted several years after the CB350 was discontinued- were up to date. The Honda shop manual has an appendix with the modifications of the newer models, but mostly when it comes to cosmetics.

Thanks for jumping in Bryan. Don't worry about the scan; that's exactly the same information contained in the oldmanhonda page a few posts above. Two different sources agreeing in the same data is enough for me to consider 26 mm "correct data".


The CB350 is slowly coming together Bryan. Frame, rear wheel and forks, and the engine waiting for the rolling chasis to be finished. The assembly is far more rewarding than all the teardown, cleaning, polishing, hunting for parts....

This is a small paperback, "Honda Motorcycle Service Specifications for all 1959-1980 US models."  Got it off ePay.  There's nothing in it to prove it's a Honda pub, but all the bikes are in it, from the CA100 to GL1100.
