Engine ID help needed...
« on: April 27, 2007, 12:56:47 PM »
I suppose I could have waited until I actually had some numbers to share, but...

I happened upon an engine from a little old honda.  It's 125 cc, and I can barely make out the VIN that is stamped on the engine.  Knowing just the VIN, where could I find out some details about this little potential beauty?  I thought it could make a nice little coffee table rebuild.

I'll try to decipher the VIN and post it up here for all to see.

Thanks - Chris

If your local dealer isn't too busy, and is cooperative, they are the best bet.  Honda put out a Model Identification Guide that is in engine size order, and has frame AND engine numbers from 1959 to the late 90s.  It has pictures (b&w) and listings for colors, minor changes from year to year, improvements...  Always wanted to order one for myself, but never did- now discontinued(at least last time I checked).
Go metric, every inch of the way!
