cb350 twin alloy rims
« on: April 26, 2007, 06:21:08 AM »
hey guys been away for a while because of a new job and some travelling.   sold off most of the herd as well.  went from about 8 or 9 bikes to 1 and a parts bike (the shop looks so big with all that space).

Wondering what size aluminum  rims you guys have gone for on 350 twins.  I don't want anything super fat but would like to get a little more rubber on there.  Something like a 2.5 front and a 3.00 rear and either 17 or 18 inch rims.

Thanks.

O yeah, would it look funny to have 40 spokes up front and 36 in back (I have a dual disc front hub I want to use from a 550)?

I'm researching something similar.  Any new ideas?  It's been recommended to me to go to WM2 and WM3 rim widths on 18s.  Not sure what tires though.

I think the 350 twin and 350/400F share the same wheels.

I'm waiting on some spokes to lace a WM2 (1,85") front and a WM3 (2.15") rear.  Standard tires for those are 90/90/18 front and a 110/90/18 rear.  You can squeeze a 100 front and 120 rear on there if you wanted to.

If you wanted to go up a notch, do a WM3 front and WM4 (2.5") rear.

I don't think anybody would notice the spoke count, especially with dual disks in front.

I think most people go with AHRMA/CCS/etc specs which is WM3 front and rear. (18X2.15)
There may be a problem getting tyres to fit if you go bigger as the 18" is somewhat limited for widths and may have clearance problems (tyre and drive chain both want to be in the same place at the same time ;D)
