Greetings fellow disciples of the single bumpstick! Before I tell you who I am I'd like to begin with who I was. I fist joined the SOHC4 club back in 97 or 98 and I'm reasonably sure I was member #254. I lived in Minnesota and was a landscaper/mechanic for a small company from Nowthen. I drove my CB 750 pretty much every moment I could and life was good! Myself and a few others on the board organized a little ride from Stillwater up the St Croix river to Taylors Falls then across the river to a park just north of St Croix Falls where we BSed and I got to ride one member's Desmo 900 Ducati. That was one hell of a bike let me tell you! There was also a nicely restored CB 500 and maybe another 750 besides mine attending. We called the outing the MN/WI One Cam and although there were only a few of us, a good time was had by all. The ride ended in Minneapolis at a coffee house where we sat around drinking an espresso drink they called "liquid crank" and talking. One guy even took some pictures of our bikes. I wish I had those pics now, but they have been lost to history. Anyway, I actually moved to St Croix Falls a short time later and became quite involved in making a new life for myself and family. I became the fleet manager for a local soft drink distributor and for 5 years had little time for anything besides work, eat, and sleep. My 750 sat in the shed under tarp and waited. I bought a small farm with lots of sheds and began to realize my lifelong dream of owning my own shop. In July of 05 I left my job and began my adventure of being my own boss. It has been pretty rough, and the pay is $#*% but my stress level is as near zero as humanly possible and that's worth a lot to me. I was riding my Goldwing past the park in St Croix Falls yesterday and saw a CB 750 Four parked there and all the memories of that day long ago and the camaraderie we shared came flooding back to me and so here I am looking to hook up with the community again.
I have been riding and fixing SOHC4s since 1984 when I got my first one. I built a couple of hardtail chopper 750s back in Minnesota and I still have enough parts to build 2 more some day. I have also been collecting for the last 15 years and my stable includes my original 750, a 750 K0, a first year 350 four, a 750 hondamatic, and a couple of 750 and 550 parts bikes. As for non-sohc I have an 82 goldwing, 84 V65 Magna, 73 Suzuki GT 550, 72 Sportster, and a 750 water buffallo project bike. Lately I have been toying with the idea of getting away from car repair and focusing on bike restoration/repair and tuning/building performance cars. Well, that's pretty much it, I hope it wasn't too long and boring - I tend to ramble on sometimes!
