Buying new fasteners
« on: May 11, 2008, 07:28:49 PM »
I bought my first bike CB360T recently, and I keep encountering horked fasteners. The oil drain plug was thoroughly rounded, so I ordered a new one from the dealer. They say it'll be a week wait for the part..  :'(

I decided that during the wait, I'll clean the centrifugal oil cleaner. When taking off the right-side crankcase cover, those 10 of the 12 screws are in bad shape. My question is, is there a faster way to get replacement fasteners? I really don't feel like waiting another week for 12 new screws?

Most definitely.  I've seen some screw kits on ebay for 750's but I haven't seen a 360 one, buuut z1 seems to have them.  I have no idea what the difference is between the two, but here are two stainless steel screw sets for a '75 cb360

I have the same issue on my bike too, seems these screws are really soft and my bike's previous owners didn't take a lot of care in tightening and loosening.  I spent a large amount of time this weekend getting stripped screws out of my points plate and replacing them w/ new ones from the hardware store.  Have fun w/ the 6 speed on your 360.

The impact screwdriver with #3 bit will keep those phillips screws in good shape, #2 bit for the smaller ones:

I did the same thing.  I didnt have an impact driver when I first got my bike so I had to drill quite a few out.  I got the stainless bolt kit for mine and I love it.  That one for $16 is pretty good price.  You may call and see what all it comes with and if it doesnt have a certain one you want see if you can add some to it.

Thanks for the advice guys!   :)

I ordered an impact driver from harbor freight. I think I'll get the SS bolt set also.
