750F calipers (again)
« on: April 28, 2007, 10:01:32 AM »
Hey Gang,

I posted this in the Wanted Parts section...I'm trying to get this out to as many members as possible....

Hello All!
I need some help.  I'm in need of a front AND rear caliper for a 1976 CB750F.  The set on my bike were broken off my a previous owner and after numerous attempts at repairing them (thanks to all who gave advice) they are in need of replacements.  I have all the brackets, lines, pads, NEW bleeder valves (SpeedBleeders[ ), etc.  I've attached pics of the old ones for reference in the Gallery (type in "john m. sanchez" in the advanced search option).  If you have of know of someone who haves, please drop me a line.
Rock On!

John,

Cross reference the parts numbers to see what bikes used these. The rear will be more difficult to find - 75 & 76 750F and maybe early Gold Wings. Keep an eye out on E Bay too under all listings you find.

I'm curious - "broken off" ??

Griff,

I should have clarified that..the bleeder valves were broken off below the opening.  After several feeble attempts to extract, bore out, and exorcise the remaining pieces of bolt I have just come to terms that I should invest in another set.  As far as cross reference, the Clymer Manual only states one type of front caliper for 68-78 but I've seen several different styles than what on my bike on ebay; if anyone knows something different I sure would appreciate the info.  As far as the rear, well, I think I'm in a smaller league as you said.  75-76...possibly 78?

John,

I checked the fiche at ServiceHonda.com.
Your/our front caliper fits:
CB750F 75/76
CB750A 76-78
CB750K 77/78

Item #s:
45101-392-003 Caliper A (main piece)
45102-392-003 Caliper B (rear piece)

The rear caliper is exclusive to the 75/76 750F0/F1. It was "down"graded in 77/78 on the F2/F3 so it wouldn't work as good. Damn good caliper. It'll lock up the rear in a heartbeat! Wish it was used on the front. Downside is it has 2 pistons to replace if you let it get corroded.

Item #s:
43201-392-006  Caliper A
43202-392-006  Caliper B

Clymers is better than nothing. It sure as hell ain't gospel!! Understand this and learn how to use it. I have a Clymers, a Haynes (they complement each other with different info & illustrations) AND A HONDA SHOP MANUAL (get one if you will be keeping your bike!).

Search the forum for caliper bleeder fix (but i dont think i spelt caliper correctly!) there are some bleeder repair parts where you tap a lot oversize and insert a brass titting complete with new bleeder seat and a new nipple, Works OK cos i dun it

Jerry,

Thanks A Lot!!  I've had such a hard time trying to hunt down what was compatible because I was unsure of the correct fitment/brackets, etc.  Since your posting I've manage to hunt down the correct caliper on eSlave for 20 bucks.  If anyone knows where  can score a REAR caliper now I'd be scootin' down the road in no time flat.  I have to agree with you, that rear brake is KILLER!  The first time I rode the bike I think I locked it up 3/4 times :o!  I was so the first bike I'd ever ridden with disks on the rear...after ridin' some other bikes I've come to appreciate the power of the F brake.
