Topic: CB750 front end on a CB450 ?

Afternoon,

As the topic states I want to put a dual-disc setup on my CB450, and am thinking the easiest way is to swap the fork tubes/lower legs/wheel offa CB750 onto my CB450. Both run 25mm fork tubes, so I really don't see an issue.

Anyone give me some insight on issues I might have while attempting to do this ?
Are the CB750 fork tubes longer than a CB450 (I am guessing they might be).
Can I just swap lower legs and keep the stock tubes (CB450 tubes into CB750 lower legs) ?
Should I just keep what I have and add another rotor/caliper ?

Get the shorter tubes from cycle x. You're not thinkin of putting a 21" wheel on this one too are ya? If yes,you probably want the longer tubes. We know you'll get it figured out either way.

But I think if I go with CB750 fork tubes/wheel/brakes and so on I will have to change the triple tree's as well. I think the CB750 triple-tree's have a wider spread, thus an issue...

What to do...?

The 450 uses the same bearing sizes on the stem but the one problem is that the 750 stem is about 1 inch longer. You could remove the 750 setm from the tress and replace it with the stem from from the 450 and then bolt the entire 750 front end right on. Or you could take 1" or whatever the difference is out of the CB750 stem. Cut it in the middle, remove the difference, have a slug turned to match the inner dia of the stem and weld it back up.

Can't I just add a 2nd CB450 caliper and rotor like on did my my CB750 ?

Not sure you can add another caliper on the 450. Is there the holes in the fork to add it?

I am pretty sure you could put CB750 fork lowers on your current fork.

you wold have to measure the distance between the forks if you just wanted to swap the entire cb750 forks, tubes and all to the 450.

Just measure and check everything. You have both bikes.
