New to the Forum Chasing Rainbows

Well Folks Here I am. Just wanted to let people know that I am one of the older folks (57) you hear about, who spends a lot of money finding their first bike again. I just found a excellent shape, 1979 CB650 for 1900 bucks. Most likely spent too much money on it but it is an exact copy of my very first motorcycle, 25 years ago. This model is what got me into motorcycles much to my wife chagrins. O well after many bikes and lots of miles on two wheels I decided to hunt down a copy of my first bike. My main ride is a 2003 Honda ST1300 and my Commuter bike is a 1986  Honda VT1100 Shadow. I also have a 1997 KLR 650 for the mountains of Colorado and the dirt roads of Texas
I reside in Wichita Falls TX. at the moment but I am from Colorado. I will be going back to Denver Colorado when I retire in two and half years. My first 79 CB650 was bought brand new in Denver Colorado 25 years ago (1981). I will need a few items that are getting very hard to find. Hoping that this forum can help me in that regard, and educate me in the hobby of Vintage SOHC Motorcycles. How to go about keeping them in excellent condition, service, acquiring parts, and most of all meeting other folks with the same interest.  Thanks for listening and here is a URL for some pics of the CB.

Greetings to/from another old guy. Stop in Colorado Springs on your way back to Denver. Good luck with the 650.

Nice Bike! I have an '81 650 custom. Is your engine painted or polished? Looks great. I am trying to restore mine but am undecided which way to go. It's my understanding that only the case was painted and the jugs up left bare but wow! yours is what I'm going for! (thank's to research done on this forum)

It is stock. Found it that way. Only did a small bit of cleaning getting a bit of dirt out of the fins. The head gasket seeps oil a little bit. Is that natural or is the gasket starting to fail. It is the origanal gasket. Nothing has ever been taken apart on this bike that I can tell. I do think the carbs were cleaned at one time. I saw a few little sctatches on the air box that looked like they were from R&R of the carbs.
