« on: June 22, 2005, 04:00:04 AM »
Hey all
was wondering  how much pressure does it take to put the oil light out on my 73 750 I run a gauge and after bike is warmed up when sitting if I dont keep it up to  3000 rpms the light will come on now go out and cruise and its up to 60  hopeing its the sending unit been there done that on a differant engine that the first thing on order today is go change the unit  the engine runs great and no funky noises so Im keeping my fingers crossed  thanx in advance  Craig

On earlier 750's (doubt it is different for the '73) the manual says the light goes out once 7 lbs. pressure is reached.
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

I have been an auto machanic for thirty years or so, seen a good many senders go bad. Motorcycles that have an idiot lite would be the same story. If you have any questions check your pressure with a known good gauge. An engine idleling with no load don't need all that pressure. I usually feel if it holds 15# at idle it is okay, but what does it do when you punch it?
