Eisenhower. I remember when he was elected and he was a great President and post war was a very difficult time.

However our generation, almost to a one, have problems with showers (Psycho) and we all remember where we were and what we were doing the day that JFK was assassinated. I was home sick from High School with a terrible cold.

We are Kennedy's (not the ones with the money and the great hair) and my 12 yr old brother, John, was in elementary school that day when the principal announced over the intercom that they had just been notified that John Kennedy had been shot dead. Children and  teachers, all over the school were in tears, some crying uncontrollably. Finally, the teacher from his class went down to the office to find out what was going on - John Kennedy was in class and in perfect health!! Very quickly the announcement was clarified.

Even though we had no kids named Kennedy at our school, it was still kaos when we were told that the president had been shot. I was in third grade. It's funny, as I remember many moments of what I did during that November week starting on the 22nd, that my wife noted that the World Trade Center disaster will have the same effect on kids growing up now. (While I don't wish to offend anyone, if the current president was killed, I wonder if it would have the same impact.)

Let's hope for no tragic reason to remember 2008!

So i guess i'm the youngest cb enthusiast around, since i'm the only person born during the bush administration.
Just because I'm about 10 years younger than the machines doesn't mean i can't like them right?

Ike!
A very smart fella, too...one of my favorites from him: the Interstate Hiway System! He also created the American Space program, to vent some of the over-aggressive Military industrial complex pressures and actions. Of course, his successor got most of the "glory" from it, but Ike started it in 1956.

My Dad was an avid Kennedy fan. My dad said that with a man like Kennedy as Prez of the US for the next 8 years the world would surely know total peace, the end of communism, the end of nuclear threats, etc etc. When JFK died my dad couldn't/wouldn't speak to anyone for a fortnight.

I was in those riots! Got chased by a gang of angry black teens, made it into a bus that was just leaving - like a movie! The city was burning...not a great summer, 1968...at least, we got to orbit the moon that year.

I was born 3 days before the Korean War began so it was Truman. I remember Ike was Pres. JFK waved to me from his car during his first campaign.  I shook Nixon's hand at an event. Got lost and wound up in front of the Clinton House and Bill was out there with his dog. I told hm I met Nixon and shook his hand, he stuck out his hand and said "take a step up boy". He was smoking a cigar.

He was taller than I expected and not as good looking as is pictures. I came home told the wife I met Clinton and shook his hand, she told me to go wash my hands.

I remember reading about the riot in Chicago. I went to Woodstock instead. I figured the music would be better up there.

Dedicated to Sgt. Howard Bruckner 1950 - 1969. KIA LONG KHANH.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

The music was better, and the bullets flying past RFK were further away...

Hey...I didn't see Lincoln in the choices of Presidents up there...  ;D

Yeah, we saw some dark days. I wonder how things would have been different had RFK lived.

I was born in '84, just after Regan and Bush won by a landslide.  Don't remember much of Gulf War v.0.1 except I was home sick from elementary with a nasty stomach flu for the beginning of news coverage.
