mirror vibration on right side
« on: May 07, 2007, 11:05:43 AM »
I was out Saturday on my 71 cb750. I noticed that while cruising along my left mirror is clear as a bell but the right one is vibrating. What would cause that, The throttle cable connected to the engine?

Anybody ever notice this?

for me it's the left mirror, clear as ever on the right, but the left one vibrates so much everything is fuzzy

I've tried tightening everything up and loosening things up, about the only thing I haven't tried is a little percussive persuasion.

ken.

I wonder if the vibration is tranfered through the frame to the handle bars and one side of the bars are slightly tighter than the other the vibration will travel up one side.

You could try triple ziploc-bagged lead shot stuffed up into the offending end of the bars...might help.

I had the same issue with the stock mirrors, but since I switch to napolean mirrors, I have not had any problems.  Are you running stock mirrors or after market?

There has been a lot of talk about cheap aftermarket mirrors vibrating like this. You can try a couple things, you can get a rubber washer and put that on the bolt for the mirror and tighten down but I have not tried this so do not know how well it would work. You can also get a vibration dampener mount. These are supposed to be ok and allow you to tighten the mirror pretty good. ANother option is a steel washer that has a rubber mold around it. More sturdy than just sa rubber washer.

i have after market mirros and they vibrated until i bought a set of bar end weights from dennis kirk. they were cheap and did the trick for me. plus with the drag bars they look neat too.
