New member in Columbus Ohio
« on: April 13, 2007, 09:00:00 AM »
Hi all.  I just stumbled across this forum last night and thought I would join.  There appears to be a lot of info here!
I have a '71 CB750 that I recently picked up from my wife's uncle for FREE!  The only stipulation:  I can never sell it.  So I decided to turn it into a cafe racer and make it my daily rider.
I may be asking a lot of questions as I start the process.  Thanks in advance for all the help.

Kevin

Hi Kevin
I am located about 10 miles south of Springfield. I hope to get one or more of my SOHC4s going soon.

Hey Kevin,
Nice to see other Ohio SOHC riders on the board.  You have any other pics of your bike?  From your avatar, it looks like it has alot of the original parts.  You might want to keep it in stock form, or at least hang on to the parts when converting to cafe mode.  Be sure to go to the Wauseon vintage meet near Toledo and also Vintage days at Mid-Ohio later this summer.  Check the events list for more info.
Peace.

Hey welcome and I agree with Rhonda about the stock parts - the tank and sidecovers look stock which are worth $$s and probably other parts.

cheers
Andy

The bike is pretty stock.  The previous owner did a few chopper mods in the 70s, but that's about it.  Most likely I will sell some of the stock parts to help pay for the cafe changes.  I will try to get some pics posted soon.

Welcome Kevin!

Live right across town, let me know if you need any help.  You may also want to check out the Ohio Cafe Racers, we get together and ride sometimes as well as help each other with our projects.  If you need a tank or seat or any of that stuff, I have all the parts I took off my 73 CB 750 that are not as pristine as yours.

Good Luck!

Welcome, Kevin and good luck on your build.  If you want inspiration, you can check out the member's photos, or you can check the Bike of the Month Winners.  We've had some sweet cafe's win.
