Sure did forget them as things like that keep happening now anyways so they are moot points as far as debate goes. We had that under carter, reagan, & GHB. So should we take them all to task because they could not stop EVERY attack that could have been planned?

Terror attacks will happen no matter what but right now we are letting our own govt scare us into believing an attack could come at any time and we need to always be prepared. It is kinda like being afraid of the boogieman. When we alter our lives as such, then the terrorist win. If we stand vigilant but carry on with our daily lives WITHOUT fear, then the terrorists cannot win.

Get your head out of your @$$.  YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO LIVE WITH FEAR.  Try sitting in your office and watching the guys in the biohazard suits remove the Anthrax from your office building.  Try losing your friends and co-workers in the World Trade Center.  Try having to make Disaster Recovery plans to off-site data centers just in case the one you work in gets nuked.

I deal with those realities every day.  Does it scare me?  Of course!  Only a moron wouldn't be scared!  Do I continue to deal with it?  Yes, I do.  Do I soldier on, and get my self to the office despite both the threats and the actual terrorism?  Yes, I do.  That's called bravery.  What do you do every day to fight terrorism?  When's the last time someone gave a damn about blowing up a cornfield in your town, Eldar?

Weather is great. Too nice to have to work!  The ducks, well I dont know about mighty but plenty of them winged dinners flying around. I had to fix the valve cover on the wife's rebel last night. Price of gas is always terrible, unless it drops to 1.50!

This is reminiscent of counseling situations;  I'm frustrated/afraid/angry and throw an accusation at you.  You get defensive and throw one back.  This is not a debate or a converstion and not constructive- until I wonder what you are REALLY trying to say, and I try to actually listen.  Talking/yelling and listening can't happen at the same time. 
I SHOULD have started out by saying, "I FEEL afraid because W seems to be an idiot and I worry about the unknowns of unending national debt and the fact that we borrow so much from China, the world used to like us but now hates us, we refuse help offered by other countries and refuse to ask for help when we need it, one of my pills costs $80 a day and that's only one of 8 I take every day and my Medicare Plan D is already in the donut hole and where is the money gong to come from to stay alive..."  etc.
And then YOU patiently explain why everything is actually OK.

It was in the Dutch news that GWB was actually handed a manners guide by the White House.
After the episodes of former misconduct it was issued to him so:
* he wouldn't drink from a water bottle at a state banquet at the UN headquarters
* would not feel up the queen like he did the German Prime Minister
* talking with a full mouth during a televised dinner with an English delegation
etc, etc.......
Anyway nothing like the normal behaviour you should conduct while entertaining guests....

 I love to listen to all of this.  We vote for lawyers and we are all shocked that we get lawyers.  We just don't get it.  It's not the red or the blue, it not the left or the right. ( not $400.00).  They don't care, they will not care, they sold their souls to become lawyers and the sad part is they don't know it. I laugh because in 15 years most of you will say good things about all of them.  I hear R Regan was a great men, wasn't he a president 15 years ago?  I hear Kennedy walked on water, and Carter was good honest man. I am suprised Abe Lincoln did not die on the cross.  It's all just crap and I have to work in it everyday.

I think we all get that. I think that is what happens when politicians get elected for too many terms. they forget that they are working for us and not themselves. It is all the poiliticians though, not just the prez. They all forget this and the people need to make them remember that.

There was a time when just living here met you could do almost anything.  Well a few more people have moved into the neighborhood so the sheep shaggers had to put up fences.  My point is this: My daughter wants to teach so she will get a degree and she will teach, she will move anywhere in this country she wants to and will not ask one person if she can do it.  We eat everyday and if you don't it is because you are to lazy to drag your ass to the free food line in every town everywhere.  I spend almost all my free time packing and shipping things to go to Haiti.  I only ship new stuff and I never pay for anything because 14% of everything purchased in this country is not opened and used before it is discarded!  I take shipping containers to Haiti, pay the bribes and put street people in business so they can buy the rice I shipped to another man, and he buys the shoes I shipped to another man.    I dig graves and bury babies,  I pickup kids from under bridges and in cemeteries and take them to an orphanage, I find a sponsor to pay for the child so she can stay.    Hell yes we live in the greatest country in the world.  Man look at what we are doing right now, talking on the web because we are fat and happy.  I am not a special person, I do what I do because my own demons haunt me differently than yours do.  I am not special but I do GET IT.  Eldar you are right about the fact they all forget about us. What do we expect from a country and government that could not last 30 days without electricity.

Sorry about the rant.  I love this country when it does the right things.  Everytime I get back into the states I just wish I could grab everyone up and have them spend 1 hour with me in Haiti.  I know many of you have seen these things elsewere, you remember how you felt but when we get back here we just forget whats important.  Going back in 3 weeks so I will stay way for a month or so.  then you won't have to read this dribble.

I agree with you here. Lots of areas in the world that make you appreciate how good we have it here. The world is a complicated place, and fixing issues that need attending isn't nearly as black and white as so forum members seems to think. Breaking eggs and all.

Whoopie doo, pleanty of websites out there will enjoy the additional echo. I find it boring, and a distraction to getting to know someone. Unless you are working in the inner DC political loop, you have less than 10% of the overall picture of the workings of governent/politics.

Spend some time in certain government entities and you'll get a better, but still marginal picture.

Fixing issues may not be black and white but it can be done and currently, it is not being done.



So maybe we have less than 10% of the overall picture. That is because our politicians have forgotten they work for us. Maybe if we did a periodic cleaning of the house and senate, this would not be such an issue. If we elected a person based more on ability instead of the amount of money they can throw at propaganda, that might help.

I propose a bill requiring ALL government vehicles to be of the 2-wheeled variety.  Not only would that weed out the power-hungry a$$holes that would just get on a Hyabusa without ever having ridden before because it's faster and they don't feel they have to respect the laws, but it would also save on tax payer's money paying for the 8mpg SUVs that flood DC as well as provide a certain level of comradery between politicians.  I mean, really.  When was the last time you saw the driver of a black, tinted-window SUV or sedan wave as the same type of vehicle passes the opposite direction.

There's just something about the wind that makes all the bs a little easier to deal with and makes you hate people a little less.  Or maybe that's the 5 cups of joe I've had this morning.
