Need rings/Anyone used TRW 811cc kit?
« on: July 28, 2006, 12:58:46 AM »
I just picked up an NOS TRW piston kit # L 2424F off Ebay. The pistons are 3mm over, forged, 10.5:1  for a Cb750.  I need rings, and Hastings said they had some rings that would work, but I was wondering if anyone knew of rings in the sizes that I need in a set I can just buy. Hastings emailed me this long list of things that worked out to about $100. I need 1.5mm compression rings and 2.8mm oil rings. Also, has anyone had any experience with this kit? The pistons look pretty nice to me, but maybe someone can tell me a little more about them. Thanks, Jimmy.

I run a Yoshi 810/811/812 kit. When I took mine apart I sent a piston to Hastings to ID rings. Really nice folks! They ID'd it as using 68-72 (not sure of last year) CB350 rings and sent my piston back at No Charge and just told me to go to the dealer. I don't know that yours would be the same rings as mine but I wouldn't hesitate to go with Hastings.

How do you like your piston kit? Was there a pretty good power increase (if you ever rode the bike stock) ? Thanks, Jimmy

My bike was stock when I blew it up back in 1976. It was really tuned in sweet. So well that I was blowing the carbon out to run a 900 Kaw heads up with much confidence. Missed 2nd gear and the rest was history. When I installed the 810 I also went with a Yoshi Daytona (race) cam and S & W high performance valve springs hoping that I wouldn't blow it up again. The 810 kit really helped my bottom end. Much less down shifting around town due to increased torque & HP. I attribute the top end increase more to the cam.
