Honda XR Regulators
« on: May 10, 2007, 09:24:05 AM »
Is there supposed to be some resistance when checking a AC regulator?
It only has two wires coming off of it. Reason why I ask is because I'm looking into buying a used one.

Any input is appreciated

An ac regulator with two wires is probably what Lucas used to sell as a "Clipper" diode which as i remember is a robust diode (to backwards voltage) that shunts and over voltage on one half of the AC to ground

Would you know where I could fine something like this, or would it be best to purchase the OEM regulator??

I really need someone to clarify, if a regulator is suppose to have O ohms of resistance??

Thanks for the help

One was has zero ohms reverse has resistance,
What i did with an XL 185 that kept blowwing bulbs was put some 5watt resistors in parrallel with the headlight power wire to shunt some amps to ground, you need to do some math to work out the correct size

Thanks for getting back. And not to make fun of you, but could you explain what you meant.

Sorry I didnt check the spelling

With your resistance meter on Ohms connect the leads to the regulator  and then reverse the leads.
The leads one way round should have zero resistance whilst the other way should be infinite (really High)

I know what you mean. ;D ;D

One time a seller (evilbay) wrote his entire message LIKE THIS FOR EVERY WORD!!

Low and behold, he was wrong about the part, and after our discussion, he supposedly didn't notice he pushed the CAPS key.

The ??? idiot didn't notice this when he was typing??

I use to work at an Orange Juice factory, but I got canned cause I couldn't concentrate. Just heard this joke. Man, I almost busted a gut.

Then again, my humor is very awkward
