Steve- good eye!!! I went back and looked at that rear view mirror and started laughing my ass off!

kghost (is that k ghost? do we know each other well enough to call you "kg"?)- I'm going to Magee Valley to watch the Concours run come into the museum. Finally decided to go on my sidecar rig in honour of the *High Powered SC rig convention down the road same weekend. Think you might make it there?

The only thing I think I understand is Maggie Valley. Are you talking about the small village in NC? I've been there. When I lived in the States I went to Cherokee, NC with my wife. We didn't make any reservation so there was no empty room. A hotel clerk told us to go to Maggie Valley. On the way there we found a small motel called Ed's motel on the roadside. It was old and managed by and old lady but I was afraid not to find a room in Maggie Valley so we got it. Left the baggage and went to Maggie Valley for dinner and a visit. It was a very nice village in the Smokey Mountains. I remember there was some kind of motorcycle museum (closed at that time of the day). My wife bought some souvenirs -these small indian shoes for decoration- and after dinner we planned to go to a place called "Stomping Ground" to enjoy a true southern country dancing, but we were tired after a hectic day and went to Ed's Motel. It was scary to say the least at nightime. It reminded me of the Psycho Motel, as I had never slept in a room where people can watch me through the window!!! Surprisingly, in the light of day the place was delightful. We were rested and the sunlight revealed a beautiful landscape. As you can see it was a day to remember.

Here you go Steve, it appears that Pte Dodd's grave is quite a popular historical marker, there were lots of hits on Google, have a read mate: http://www.terrystexasrangers.org/diaries/dodd_es/ Cheers, Terry. ;)

Raul, I'm impressed with how much you get around. Seems like you get an education, too. Yes, it's the same Magee Valley.
Over the state line is the Honda Hoot- a huge national rally for Hondas. It started out in Asheville NC but got too big, so they moved to Tennessee.  Separately, Cycle World Magazine has been sponsoring a Concours show and ride in Sonoma California with the winning bikes recieving excellent bottles of wine. The catch is the bikes actually have to run well. The show in California has been so spectacular that they decided to have one father East, too. I guess the Honda Hoot seemed like a good place to do it. The Hoot is basically the equivalent of a huge biker bash combined with Daytona Bike Week only mainly for Goldwings, ST1300s, and Valyries- but no wet T-shirt contests.
After seeing the Hoot a few times, I started wondering when someone is going to invent a video monitor for the back of a helmet so "Mom" can watch DVDs or soaps while on the back with "Dad".

Uncle Ernie, since when is the Honda Hoot held in the Music City? When I was living in Nashville in 2002 I didn't knew anything about that. What a pity...

It must have been the angle, what with the bushes and all.

Only made it to the hoot one day.

Made the classic pilot mistake and answered the phone. Next thing I knew i was in a Learjet headed for Detroit.

I was going to make the concours ride but got sucked into work. Sitiing in Detroit now with bikes still in Knoxville.

Should be back in Knoxville on the 5th if anyone wants to ride.
