A friend of mine did exactly the same thing about 20 years ago, he rode his bike straight thru the drivers door of a car, killing the female driver.
Technically she was in the wrong for pulling out from a stop sign, but morally he was at fault, as he was speeding when he did it.
He was badly busted up himself, suffering some horrific injuries, he's recovered pretty well physically, but he has never really recovered mentally from the guilt of killing that girl.
He still rides his old Kawasaki ZX10 occasionally, but I don't really think he enjoys it anymore.
