wiring a new condenser in the Hodaka. Questions.
« on: May 13, 2007, 11:02:24 AM »
I am re-wiring the bike today.  Question though:

There are two prongs coming from the Condenser.  It's a two-prong Daiichi unit.  Which one do I solder the wire to?  The long prong or the short one?  Or both?  The condenser that came out was a non-factory piece, so it's no help.

Also, I know how to gap points, but the windows in the flywheel don't line up with the cam lobe that opens the points, so I have no idea how much it is opening.  Should I just wing it on that and tighten down where I "think" it should be?  How exact does the point gap have to be on these old Hodakas any way?

Never mind.  Wired it to both prongs and got big spark.
