Hello from NH
« on: May 13, 2007, 05:31:39 AM »
Greetings from the White Mountains! Just found an old CB550k (1978) on Long Island and brought it here to delay it's junkyard status! Hope to get it running once the carbs are cleaned and rebuilt. Found a parts bike 5 miles down the road (figures) and have grabbed a few missing pieces so far (grab bar, brake lever, lenses, etc.) Still on the lookout for a good seat that is not a K&Q.
Will post pics someday....

Hi there G-Unit! I visit the new member forum but once a week or so and noticed you hadn't had a welcome yet.

So here it is!  :D

Welcome and enjoy wrenching on your SOHC! I certainly do...

Welcome from the Empire State. When I am in Mass, I slip into NH for anything I can buy. No Sales Tax. Love them State Liquor Stores.

But we were boys, and boys will be boys, and so they will. To us, everything was dangerous, but what of that? Had we not been made to live forever?

OK, so the carbs finally came back from the shop...installed, turned on fuel and #1 bowl overflow leaking at same rate as before sending carbs out for cleaning $%&* and that was putting it lightly!
Decided to see if it would start anyway...it did and the overflow has not leaked since! Guess I owe the mechanic an apology!
Rode that afternoon for 10 miles in fits and starts. Next day was better and now have just over 200 miles on the bike!
It is just starting to run right!
I replaced both throttle cables, the choke cable and that's about it other than the odd part off the parts bike!

Honda was a freakin' GENIUS!
